10.00 (excellent) This anime reminded me why I love anime so much. The plot was amazing, the characters were awesome, and the voice talent was unbelievable! This anime is Funimation's best dub yet.

9.25 (very good) This show was really good. It's kind of an interesting story, but I wasn't too fond of the animation. The action scenes were awesome, it was just the funky colors they would use I guess. Again, the voice talent was amazing. Anything with Jason Liebricht is awesome in my book. Anyway, I thought the show was really good, it'll have you crying by episode 6. Of course it being an anime, there were some filler episodes that I couldn't really comprehend at times. I think it was just one episode that I thought was so weird. The villain Creed is probably one of the craziest anime characters I have ever seen. He's got a god-complex and everything! Anyway, this show is kind of long...I can't exactly remember how many episodes it has, but it was good. I say check it out since it's pretty unpopular.

9.75 (excellent) This show was really, really good. My only problem was that it almost seemed completely plotless at times. You could pretty much just jump from episode 1 to episode 8 and not have skipped a beat. Animation on the other hand, was absolutely beautiful. I honestly just bought this show because of an amazing amv called Trial by Drowning by pinkhaze. I'm glad I did. Eric Vale did an AMAZING job as Casshern. His angst was so real I found myself crying at times because I felt his despair. This is a great show if you like action and romance. Casshern and Lyuze's love scene in like...episode 22 or 24, blew me away. I guess I just wasn't expecting it, so it was amazing to watch. The show ended ok. It was kind of a bittersweet ending, but I can't imagine it ending another way, so it was well worth the purchase.

9.75 (excellent) Who hasn't heard of this show, right? All I can say is that it is an excellent anime. It has a great balance of humor and drama, and Spike is just an awesome main character. If you haven't seen this anime yet, watch it now! You are seriously missing out because it is one of the greatest anime series of all time.

9.50 (excellent) When my sister first made me watch this show I hated it. To me the art was so bad it looked like a three year old drew the art with it's less dominant hand. But I gave the show a try, and it is hilarious. It was a little uncomfortable at first, but the characters eventually grew on me, and then the art didn't seem so bad anymore. The show also has surprisingly sweet moments like when Shin teaches Yuu how to act again, and when Shin and the rest of the family play darts together. (Though it turned into a fierce competition later.) The whole show is pretty plotless so don't start watching this show thinking you're going to get a deep story. It's just a comedy and it's a pretty good one. You just have to get past the art and enjoy the characters more.

9.00 (very good) This show was one of my favorites growing up as a child. Unfortunately, it aired at such odd times that I never could stay up late to watch any of it. I finally got back into it when my sister did a couple of years ago. We pooled our money together and bought the Japanese box set. The show is about 52 episodes, and each box had like 4 discs in them. I do wish the english version wasn't screwed over like it was. I would've bought the english version in a heartbeat. This show is about this guy named Black Ghost who kidnapped all of these people and turned them into robots. Of course you don't get to see how these characters were turned into robots until the second season that I don't think was released in the U.S. Watching it again I released how the show really wasn't for kids. Sure there's not a lot of blood or too much violence, but there are themes that I can't imagine a child understanding. That's probably one reason why this show flopped so bad, because they treated it like a kids show. These characters had layers that I never got to see growing up, so watching it again was a really great experience. If you're like me who has seen this show as a kid, try finding it online and watch it again. These characters are so special, so it's sad that you'll never get to know them if you don't watch the entire season.

Last Updated: Aug 30, 2011

9.00 (very good) I watched this show shortly after Baccano hoping I would get the same amount of action and voice talent, but I didn't. There's just something about Durarara that it doesn't have but Baccano does. I guess because I absolutely loved the show until episode 12, but after that the show pretty much died for me. I was expecting this big blowout of action, but that never really happened. I'm currently re-watching it in english now. I made it to like...episode 11 or something. I probably will stop at 12 though I have seen the extra bonus episodes in english since those weren't subbed on crunchyroll. I do recommend this show to anyone who liked Baccano, it has the same skipping around thing that Baccano had, but it is lacking something...

9.75 (excellent) A friend of mine forced me to watch this after she got the boxset, and I thought it was amazing. Takizawa has got to be one of the cutest main characters ever. He's also a movie fanatic, which we have in common so it was funny picking up all of the movie titles he mentions throughout the series. I bought the show after my friend showed it to me, and I have both movies. It's a great series, though I was a little disappointed in the second movie ending...It's still a good show though and I recommend it to anyone who likes action and romance.

9.50 (excellent) This show is so good. I've seen both the Japanese and English casts and I love both of them. The animation is really pretty and they color it differently than any other anime I've seen. I think I've read somewhere that they would use Photoshopped backgrounds to color in the character's clothes and hair. That would also kind of make the show a bit distracting, but you got used to it the more you watched it. There were some awesome twists and turns in this show that made it really fun to watch. It never lost my interest, and the music was really good. Also this anime was based off the novel The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, but you don't have to read the novel to understand the anime. It's really good, and it's about 24 episodes so it's not too long.

8.25 (good) This show was kind of odd. I really liked the world the characters lived in and the characters as well, but since the movie was so short I couldn't really connect with any of the characters. The plot kind of confused me as well. There were a lot of holes that had to go unexplained because of the time restraint. I think if you watched the movie a couple of times it would probably get better and you'd understand the plot more. It's pretty much like that with any movie, really. I'd say give it a chance, just because the animation is good. The ending was ok, it's kind of like when the antagonist realizes that they did something wrong and they apologize it's like the world is right again. Those endings aren't too bad they're just kind of anticlimactic.

9.50 (excellent) This is probably one of the oddest shows you will ever see. I first watched it subbed a couple years back, and I didn't like it much. I don't know if it was the subbers or something, but I just hated the jokes. But when I found out that Funimation was dubbing it, I had to know who the cast was. XD I was almost correct in every assumption I made, which was awesome. I wasn't expecting Ian Sinclair to be Romano, but it was amazing! He did a really good job, and Romano is awesome to begin with. The jokes that Funimation put in were a lot more understandable, and I loved the accents in the cast. ^^ A great thing about this show is that even though it's 52 episodes, the actual episodes are about 5 minutes each. When I'm just sitting at home and doing stuff on the computer, I like to pop in Hetalia and just let it play while I multitask. This is a really great show, and I really like it.

8.50 (very good) Out of all of Miyazaki's movies...I probably hate this one the most. It's not like it's bad, but you can just tell that Miyazaki didn't create the story, so I feel like it was lacking the charm of his previous titles. If you're a fan of Miyazaki and love his work then go get this movie, but if you've never heard of Miyazaki or any of his other films I probably wouldn't start with this one.

Keroro Gunsou

Last Updated: Aug 30, 2011

9.50 (excellent) I just started watching this show recently...I remember Todd Haberkorn said that Keroro was probably one of his favorite characters to voice so my sister and I started watching it together. It. Is. Hilarious. I think I'm around episode 40 or something right now. I probably won't finish this show since it's like over 300 episodes, but I will try my best to finish it. XD The jokes are great, you seriously can't go through an episode without laughing your head off. But if you're one of those people who has to know EVERYTHING about a plot, then don't bother with this one. The anime doesn't explain it well, and they don't intend to, so just going with it is probably the better option. Just understand that they're a group of space frogs trying to take over the world, but fail every time. XD

9.75 (excellent) This was my first Hayao Miyazaki film, so I think it's my favorite out of all his films. When I was sick my mom would play this movie for me every time. ^^ Though I did get rid of my VHS one, I managed to get it on DVD. It was kind of disappointed to re-watch the movie and have half of the voices taken out. All the VHS music was gone, and it just made the movie feel so bland to me. I think that when Disney released it for the DVD, they tried to keep it as close to the original Japanese version as possible. Even though I understand why they would do that, I just felt like my childhood was gone. I now realize I probably would've hated that movie if it wasn't for the extra music and dialogue they added in the VHS version.

9.75 (excellent) I think this was the second Hayao Miyazaki film I saw. The story in this movie is really amazing. ^^ This movie entertained me the most for the Dola gang was just an awesome group of characters. XD The twists in this movie were well-timed and I remember gasping when I was little. XD The ending was great, and I remember I started crying when Dola started tearing up. lol I also liked the message that we should honor nature and have love for one another. We shouldn't be corrupted by power and technology.

9.50 (excellent) I bought this along with Lupin III Episode 0: First Contact at my first anime convention back in May. I've watched episode one on YouTube, and I loved the animation. So since it was only $20 I thought "why not" and bought it. I was a little nervous at first because I thought it was a little boring, but it quickly picked up towards the end of disc 2. I didn't know this until after I finished the show, but the majority of the main characters are based on real people back in that time period. I think the DVDs come with historical background notes, so this information might have been in that bonus feature, I just haven't watched those yet. Anyway, if you're into history at all you might consider watching this show since it's set during Louis XIV's reign.

9.50 (excellent) I love Lupin III. ^^ I've only seen some of the episodes on tv though. I'm more into the movies, so I have the majority of those. My favorite Lupin movie has to be Episode 0 First Contact. I find Lupin so charming in that movie, and the plot is awesome! All of the characters had their own little spotlight moments, so that was refreshing to see. XD If you're thinking about watching Lupin III or are interested in this movie, please go buy it and watch it. ^^ It's definitely my favorite Lupin III movie to date.

10.00 (excellent) One of my favorite anime movies of all time. ^^ I remember just picking this up at a Barnes and Noble just because I thought it looked interesting and it was! The animation is stunning! It's hard to believe this was made I think around 2001. The art style reminds me heavily of the series Astro Boy, but all of the characters are completely different and unique. I was pleased with the voice talent as well. ^^ It was great hearing Jamieson Price as Duke Red. The ending to this movie also blew me away. When it happens you'll be like "What the heck?" but it'll grow on you quickly, and you'll probably start crying. (Or at least I did.) The soundtrack is based heavily on jazz music, with songs from Louis Armstrong (sung by someone else though) and Ray Charles. It's a beautiful movie with a clear message, and I recommend it to anyone who likes anime.

Millennium Actress

Last Updated: Aug 30, 2011

10.00 (excellent) This is probably my favorite Satoshi Kon movie. The story is just so amazing, and it's a love story told in a different kind of way. Also, prepare for lots of running. Lots and lots of running. This actress goes through her life chasing after a prisoner of war whom she has fallen in love with. But through her life we get to see her act in these films, then back to reality. It all runs together, and I didn't find it too hard to see when she was acting or if it was reality. Watch it about two times and you'll have a much easier time understanding the story. I've seen both the english and japanese casts. I personally prefer the japanese cast, but of course the problem with owning the japanese version is that you have to pay attention to the screen constantly. Anyway, this movie is really good and I'd definitely recommend it. ^^

Munto

Last Updated: Aug 30, 2011

8.75 (very good) This show is pretty good. I think I saw an amv using the show so I decided to watch it. It's very short so you could finish the whole show within a day. The only problem is that episodes 7 - 9 are in a completely different style to the first six since the company dropped it then picked it back up. Personally if they were going to finish it, they probably should've just reanimated the entire thing. The show looks so off because it did that. Also, this series was originally two movies, but the company made it into an anime series and then released a 3rd move which was basically episodes 7 - 9 but they also added some extra scenes that weren't in the anime. I thought the ending to the show was kind of lame since nothing really happened. The antagonist didn't even put up a fight, really. I also hated the anime ending when they didn't tell you where Munto had gone after the Akuto crisis ended. Thankfully, the show saved me in the 3rd Munto OVA when Munto comes back to see Yumemi. That was the closure I needed to love that show. ^^ This project could have been handled better or just been given more episodes, but it's really not that bad. I would try it before you rule it out.

9.75 (excellent) This is probably my favorite of Miyazaki's films. The first time I tried watching it, I don't know what it was, but I couldn't keep my eyes open. I complained about how boring the movie was, how much I hated the characters, I didn't understand the story...It was a bunch of things. But one day I decided to give it another chance, and I fell in love with it! I don't know what it was about, but everything just made sense, and I didn't understand how I could hate it in the first place! I really love Nausicaa's character. She is strong-willed, valiant, and brave. I always thought that Nausicaa was how Miyazaki really saw women. She seems to embody the strong heroine that Miyazaki loves to create. She is the only main character like this in Miyazaki's films. This movie is really good, so check it out! Of course, if you're getting that same bored feeling I was when I watched this movie at first just stop and give it a second chance later. You won't regret it.

9.50 (excellent) Great show. ^^ Funimation dub is awesome. When a friend of mine said it was like Fruits Basket I was a little worried. I thought Fruits Basket was a little boring, and I didn't like Tohru. Ouran is different though because I love all of the guys, and I even like Haruhi. The humor definitely balanced it out. I didn't find Fruits Basket funny, I found it a little awkward, and very slow-paced. Thankfully Tamaki's overreactions really made the show funny and I found it heartwarming as well. ^^ Basically this show is Fruits Basket done right. lol

9.25 (very good) This movie basically has the same plot as Inception only shorter and easier to understand. You might get confused sometimes when you watch it, but it's really not that hard to understand. The voice talent was once again, awesome. XD Yuri Lowenthal and Doug Erholtz are probably some of my favorite VA's and they did an awesome job as their characters in this movie. ^^ I loved the dream world in this movie. It was so vibrant, beautiful, and interesting. ^^ It's also rated R though, which I honestly wasn't expecting. It's not that bad, but it alludes to some sexual themes, and there is some nudity. Anyway, if you're a fan of Inception you should check this movie out! ^^

10.00 (excellent) When I found out that Satoshi Kon created an anime series it made its way to the top of my priorities list. I managed to find the 2-disc set online and bought it for about $20. (The show is 13 episodes) I knew it was gonna be a great series, but I didn't know how much it would blow my mind. Almost every episode revolves around a character and a main theme, so at times you'll probably be like, "Ok, what's going on?" or "Why am I watching this person?" But these character's struggles really give the show the mystery and suspense that it needed. ^^ I seriously recommend it to anyone. It has some mature themes though. (I think there was a sex scene or something in episode 3) so just be careful about who you show it to. ^^

9.50 (excellent) One of my favorite Miyazaki movies. ^^ The story is so cute and I love the characters in it. I think Miyazaki made this movie for short airplane rides for businessmen, so that's why the storyline is pretty mature compared to his other films. I remember him saying how he didn't know why this movie was so popular for children since he didn't make it for children, but I think it's because of the characters and how funny they are. lol This cast is really funny, and the situations just make it funnier. XD Seriously, that brawl at the end was just hilarious. lol

9.50 (excellent) Probably one of the most violent Miyazaki films. I remember the first thing I thought of when I watched this movie was "is that a male main character?" lol It was really cool to see that since almost all of his movie revolve around women. The animation in this movie was really cool too. ^^ It seems so different from his other works and he's never done it again. Anyway, it's a really good movie.

9.25 (very good) I will own this show one day. I just need to wait until I get some money. Anyway, this is the show that inspired me to watch Cowboy Bebop. This show was really amazing. ^^ Some of the action scenes were just amazing. I think episode 1 had the best action scenes though. Anyway, the characters were really awesome. You couldn't help but love Mugen even if he is an idiot. XD There's also a lot of sex in this show since every time Mugen and Jin got some money they were immediately at a red light district. :P Like Cowboy Bebop this show has a good balance of humor and drama. I feel like it leans heavily to the drama side, but the humorous episodes are great! Check out this show if you love action scenes, humor, and drama. ^^

9.50 (excellent) This was a really great show! I've seen it with the english cast and loved it. The english cast is actually better than the japanese! I found the japanese annoying and off most of the time. ^^' Anyway, this show followed the manga very closely which is surprising for an anime like this, but of course, the manga isn't finished so the anime had to come up with its own plot after episode 35 and that just made the show so weird. If you're a fan of the manga just watch it up until episode 35. The rest of the episodes just get strange and the ending was very rushed for me. I definitely recommend it if you're looking for something fun to watch though! The characters are great. ^^

8.75 (very good) I've had this show on my watchlist for about 4 years now. I finally started watching it over the summer and I fell in love with it. The concept is interesting and is what initially drew me to the series in the first place (besides Kozaki Yuusuke's art). The show is 24 episodes and I'm only on 13 or so. I enjoy it tremendously so far. It's a great show for someone older, and it was just what I needed at the time. That's all I can say about it for now though.

I thought this movie was okay, Chihiro really bothered me, like, the entire time. XD And sometimes I think this movie is so popular, it's kind of overrated. I prefer Nausicaa, Monoke, and Castle of Cagliostro over this movie, but they aren't as popular. I'm not saying it's bad, just don't let the over-the-top fanbase make you believe that it's the ONLY good Miyazaki film. Please check out his other films and then you might have the same opinion I have about this one.

9.75 (excellent) This is a great movie. I really enjoyed everything about it. The animation is beautiful, and the show is set in London! I think any anime set outside Japan is really interesting because I like to see how they perceive other countries. The internal conflict in this movie is this struggle between different ideals in a family of inventors. The grandad and his son Eddie create a ball that has a limitless amount of steam, an unlimited source of power in that time period. Of course, both the grandad and his son have different views on how to use the ball, while Ray, the protagonist, has to choose who is right in this conflict. Either his dad or his grandfather. It's a great movie if you're trying to look for something new, and trying to get away from mainstream anime. The voice cast is excellent, and the music is awesome. Try to watch it if you're interested! ^^

10.00 (excellent) This is an awesome movie, and I think anyone can relate to it. ^^ This movie shows how important family is and how important it is to be together as a unit. This family has unique characters, and that's what makes the show interesting. You'll laugh and cry and feel as if you're part of the family as you share their losses and their triumph. This is a great family movie if you want to share it with them. ^^ And one of the best parts is that this show is very modern. They live in a technology era, but it's not too far advanced from our own so we understand it, and some of the characters even have iPhones and things like that. The voices were great as well. I guess you could almost call the entire cast the Funimation Favorites. XD Even though you'll probably cry every time you watch it, you'll still want to watch it again and again because of the great ending. ^^

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

Last Updated: Aug 30, 2011

8.75 (very good) I thought this movie was pretty good. ^^ It's been awhile since I've watched it, but I'll try to remember the most of it. This movie is pretty slow, so you'll have to wait and give it a chance before you drop it. The movie was almost plotless the entire time. It was kind of a "what would you do with time traveling powers" and you kind of just had to relate with the main character and what she did. Of course, this magical power doesn't last forever, and the main character wasted all of her jumps just because she didn't want to deal with a relationship problem head-on. The ending was really sad too! I remember sitting on my futon watching the ending happen and I was seriously pissed. It's just not the ending you want, so that would make anyone mad. It's really not that bad though, if you can take the slow movies and I don't know, relate to the characters more, you'd probably love this movie.
